Hearing loss affects 1 in 6 Australians. This is expected to rise to 1 in 4 Australians by 2050.
Experiencing hearing loss is more than the loss of sound – it can lead to social isolation or a decreased ability to communicate with loved ones. The impact of hearing loss on the health system and the wellbeing of individuals costs Australia $33.3b per year.
As a small team, concerned about the impact of hearing loss, we knew we had to do something.
We started by conducting research to understand the needs of Australians whether they were directly or relationally impacted by hearing loss. This led to HearSpace – a unique online service with impartial and free information and links to different services to help people overcome the barriers that come with hearing loss.
However, our journey is only beginning. We want to hear from you to continuously improve our service and make it even more relevant to your needs.
